Kiln Cement is for coating the lids of Skutt kilns to prevent brick dust from falling into the chamber. When applied correctly, it adheres to brick very well, but does not always adhere to itself when used as a patch. It can also be used to repair element groove lips that have broken out. Again, this sometimes works but is not guaranteed.
Skutt recommends Kiln Cement for the following applications:
1.) Touching up chips on the top side of kiln lids, and 2.) lightly coating the top row of bricks to prevent deterioration on older kilns. (Only to be used on that part of the brick that comes in contact with the lid.)
