June 3 - 7: MAKING IN MULTIPLES WITH BRIAN KLUGE

June 3 - 7

Participants will form small-scale sculptural or functional forms as prototypes for making multiples. Techniques will include: building with stiff slabs; solid building; mold-making; and surfacing objects with metallic oxides, commercial colorants and underglazes. Kluge will also discuss how his own work relates to both the Mingei and Wabi-Sabi traditions. Students should be prepared to work with clay in a drier state than they may be accustomed to. By the end of the workshop, participants will have several small objects and up to three molds. Beginners welcome.

Space is limited to 10 students.
