Noah Starer is a self-taught artist working in the naked clay movement: clay without glaze. His previous career as a social worker directly informs his artwork - the hallmark of social work is empathy, and Starer strives to establish empathetic connections with viewers. He draws inspiration from anthropology, archaeology, nature and personal experience, creating work that encourages introspection.
"In the same way that every piece is new and fresh to me, I hope my sculptures may catch you off guard, uncover an unexpected awareness, or reveal some aspect of your own story through the cracks, curves, lines, breaks and perfect imperfections in the clay."
